Le sue foto sembrano tratte dalla natura selvaggia, e invece arrivano da paesaggi di pixel, tra l’altro ritoccati poco o niente: diretta espressione del suo talento. Sto parlando di Cullum Writer, fotografa brasiliana che espone alla galleria di Astral Dreams fino a sabato 9 ottobre. Cavalli, rami intrecciati, piume al vento, sembra di respirare l’aria fresca dei grandi spazi aperti e la verosimiglianza è impressionante, l’atmosfera quasi rarefatta, il silenzio diventa l’unico atteggiamento possibile di fronte ai ritratti della Grande Madre Terra.
Ha cominciato da poco la sua carriera in SL, nonostante le difficoltà linguistiche - ahimè, non parlo portoghese - l’occasione era troppo ghiotta per farsela scappare e quindi le sono corsa dietro per avere almeno qualche notizia in più su di lei e suo suo lavoro. Ecco la traduzione, fedele come l’appuntamento con le mie interviste. Potevo lasciarvi senza? ;-)
Mo Werefox: Quando è iniziata la tua carriera artistica in SL?
Cullum Writer: La mia prima mostra in una galleria d’arte risale al gennaio di quest’anno (2010, N.d.R.), sono stata invitata ad esporre le mie foto da un amico che è gallerista all’Ice Caverns Gallery. Da quel momento ho sempre portato le mie mostre in giro, in diverse land artistiche.
Mo Werefox: Sei fotografa anche in RL?
Cullum Writer: In RL fotografo per hobby, non per professione. Ho imparato ad apprezzare la fotografia grazie a mio padre, che aveva un laboratorio fotografico in casa. Era talmente sorprendente vedere le immagini emergere dalla carta, mi divertivo moltissimo a guardarle da piccola.
Mo Werefox: Hai un metodo particolare per catturare le immagini?
Cullum Writer: Non ho un metodo particolare... semplicemente, quando qualcosa mi salta all’occhio la catturo con uno scatto. Non uso nemmeno programmi particolari per lavorare le immagini, solo Paintbrush talvolta, per un colore o una luce particolare.
Mo Werefox: I tuoi soggetti preferiti?
Cullum Writer: Anche qui, non ho particolari preferenze: che siano persone, paesaggi o scenari particolari, devono toccare le mie emozioni, così posso catturarle in una foto e mostrarle.

Her photos seem captured from the true wilderness, and they come from landscapes of pixels: a straightforward expression of her talent. I'm talking about Writer Cullum, Brazilian photographer who exhibits at the Astral Dreams’ Art Gallery until Saturday, October the 9th. Horses, twisted branches, feathers in the wind, all seems to bring the fresh air of the great open spaces. The realism is impressive, the atmosphere rarefied: the silence becomes the only possible attitude in front of her portraits of the Mother Earth.
She just started her career in SL, and despite the language difficulties - alas, I do not speak Portuguese - the opportunity for an interview was too good...
Mo Werefox: When did you start your artistic career in SL?
Cullum Writer: My first exhibition on an art gallery was in january 2010, I was invited from a friend who is a gallerist on Ice Caverns Gallery to exhibit my photos. And since then i have always been showing my work on different art places.
Mo Werefox: Are you a photographer in RL also?
Cullum Writer: No, it is only a hobby in RL. I learned to enjoy photography with my father who had a photo lab at home. It was so amazing to see the images coming from papers and I had so much fun to see it when I was still a little girl.
Mo Werefox: Which is your favourite method to take a picture?
Cullum Writer: I have no special method to take my pics...i only look at the something and if it jump out on my eyes i snapshot it. I don`t use no special program to change the photos...only Paintbrush sometimes to give a different color or special light.
Mo Werefox: Your favourite subject?
Cullum Writer: I have no favorite subject to work with, people, landscapes and special textures have to touch my feelings and then I catch them on photos and show them
